Oui. Félicitations. What am I doing in France? I don't know. Moreover, I always say "France," but in particular I'm in Paris. That's strange, isn't it?
I gave up what easily could've been a second semester in Japan, and more likely a second semester of seeing all of Japan, to stick to my original plan, created before I started college, to go to both Japan and France. That wasn't my dream; I knew it could and was pretty sure I would happen, so I didn't have to dream about it. But now I'm here, missing the infinite mountain landscapes and many freedoms I had within biking distance on my shoddy little bicycle in the land of the rising sun. Here the sun never rises; the window of my room faces in to a center closed off by three buildings where light has a hard time entering. As I start here with Japan now a dream, this (trivially, as we say in the math language) makes France, or Paris, rather, my reality. What will I do here?
I'll find that out. Then you'll find out what I have been doing here.
Ce mec-là, qui sait qui c'est ?
